| How to get to Taipa Sailing Club From Auckland, take SH1 north through Whangarei then left into Kawakawa (approx 40mins drive). Continue through Kawakawa and Moerewa then turn right at the Pakaraka junction onto SH10 (about 8 mins – there’s a school at the junction). Stay on SH10 passing the crossroads to Kerikeri, through Kaeo township, left over the long one way bridge and keep the turn offs for Mangonui township on the right. Continue through Coopers Beach and Cable Bay. Immediately after crossing the single-lane bridge across Taipa River, turn right into Taipa Point Road. At the end of the road (with the beach in front of you) turn right for the clubhouse. It is about four hours driving time from Auckland to Taipa. Here is a map of the route, also shown on the Northland map at the top of this page. Coming from Kaitaia and Awanui on SH10, pass the left turn to the Karikari peninsular. Just before the single-lane bridge across the Taipa River, turn left into Taipa Point Road. At the end of the road (with the beach in front of you) turn right for the clubhouse. Here is an enlarged view of the Taipa map. |
